When Patricia needed her roof replaced, I quietly lent her $18,000.<\/p>\n

When Mark claimed his credit had suffered a temporary setback, I financed his new SUV under my name.<\/p>\n

There was a folder inside that my attorney had prepared two months earlier, after I discovered Mark had secretly moved money out of our joint account to cover debts from a business he had never mentioned to me.<\/p>\n

I hadn\u2019t filed the paperwork.<\/p>\n

I had still wanted to give him one last opportunity.<\/p>\n

Thanksgiving made the choice for me.<\/p>\n

By 8:30 p.m., the joint credit card was frozen.<\/p>\n

At 8:42, I redirected my salary into the personal account I had opened months before.<\/p>\n

At 9:10, I sent my attorney an email.<\/p>\n

Proceed.<\/p>\n

Then I pulled up the paperwork for Patricia\u2019s roof loan.<\/p>\n
