Inventory losses.<\/p>\n

Staff procedures.<\/p>\n

Kitchen sanitation.<\/p>\n

Wine storage.<\/p>\n

Purchasing systems.<\/p>\n

Some days involve tasting expensive wine beside Michelin-starred chefs.<\/p>\n

Other days involve crawling behind commercial fryers at six in the morning because someone lied about cleaning them.<\/p>\n

The job is demanding.<\/p>\n

But it pays extremely well.<\/p>\n

Daniel knew that before he married me.<\/p>\n

He worked in commercial property management.<\/p>\n

It was a respectable career with regular hours and a decent salary.<\/p>\n

He wasn\u2019t poor.<\/p>\n

I simply earned considerably more.<\/p>\n

That difference allowed us to live comfortably.<\/p>\n

Six weeks earlier, she had given birth to two baby girls.<\/p>\n

The twins were adorable.<\/p>\n

From the moment they arrived, every family conversation became about Megan.<\/p>\n

Megan was tired.<\/p>\n

Megan needed a better stroller.<\/p>\n

Megan\u2019s husband, Kyle, wasn\u2019t sleeping.<\/p>\n

Megan wanted specialty diapers.<\/p>\n

Megan had read something online about ordinary detergent being unsuitable for babies.<\/p>\n

I had actually tried very hard to help.<\/p>\n

When the twins were born, I gave Megan a generous cash gift.<\/p>\n

Later, I paid for two weeks of prepared meals because she was exhausted.<\/p>\n

I bought diapers.<\/p>\n

A bottle sterilizer.<\/p>\n

I even sent our cleaner to her house once after Daniel complained that the place had become overwhelming.<\/p>\n
