Coincidentally, my older sister, Jessica, our parents, and her six-year-old daughter, Lily, had booked a separate family trip to Orlando, departing from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport around the same time. We met at the central concourse food court for breakfast before heading to our gates.<\/p>\n

Jessica had spent months complaining about how exhausted she was from single motherhood after her high-profile divorce from Mark, an executive at a major logistics corporation. During breakfast, she kept hinting at how wonderful child-free travel must be, while our mother casually remarked that family should always help overwhelmed mothers. I ignored them, checked my boarding pass, and went to the ladies\u2019 restroom twenty minutes before boarding began at Gate B12.<\/p>\n
