They were simple things.<\/p>\n

Yet writing them down felt almost rebellious.<\/p>\n

When I heard Ernesto walking through the hallway, I closed the notebook.<\/p>\n

I wasn\u2019t ready to show it to him.<\/p>\n

First, I needed to understand what I wanted without immediately hearing someone else\u2019s opinion about it.<\/p>\n

The weeks that followed were not dramatic or romantic.<\/p>\n

They were messy.<\/p>\n
