A few minutes later, Vanessa began complaining because Ethan had refused to put another fifty thousand dollars into her failing interior-design company.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat money belongs to us,\u201d Ethan said.<\/p>\n

Vanessa gave me a pointed look.<\/p>\n

Something inside me became completely calm.<\/p>\n
