By the time we reached a small hospital near the Pennsylvania line, I was screaming through contractions and Derek had called seventeen times.<\/p>\n

I turned off my phone.<\/p>\n

At 3:41 a.m., my daughter, Emily, was born.<\/p>\n

Healthy.<\/p>\n

Loud.<\/p>\n

Perfect.<\/p>\n

Rachel held my hand while the nurse placed Emily against my chest.<\/p>\n
