A woman I had never seen before stood beside him.<\/p>\n

She appeared to be around our age, maybe thirty-five. She had dark hair, wore a black dress, and despite the chilly weather, had no coat.<\/p>\n

She was crying.<\/p>\n

I quietly moved closer to the open side door.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t do this,\u201d the woman said.<\/p>\n

Ethan glanced nervously toward the chapel.<\/p>\n

She grabbed his arm.<\/p>\n

My stomach tightened.<\/p>\n

Ethan pulled away.<\/p>\n

I stepped outside.<\/p>\n
