We obtained an affidavit from the contractor, who admitted Diane had paid him cash to leave access behind the bathroom vent.<\/p>\n

Then we sent an emergency preservation request to the cloud provider.<\/p>\n

A county cybercrimes detective opened an investigation but warned me not to reveal anything until the provider returned its records.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Nathan became almost affectionate.<\/p>\n

He brought me flowers.<\/p>\n

Cooked dinner.<\/p>\n

Asked casually whether I had updated the password to the family trust portal.<\/p>\n

Every kind gesture felt like a hand searching through my pockets.<\/p>\n

The \u201cbathroom video\u201d they planned to show wasn\u2019t explicit.<\/p>\n

Diane had used recordings to blackmail Rachel into repaying a debt she never actually owed.<\/p>\n

Another victim was Diane\u2019s own sister, Ruth, secretly filmed while recovering from surgery.<\/p>\n

I called both women.<\/p>\n

Rachel started crying.<\/p>\n

Ruth stayed silent so long that I thought the call had disconnected.<\/p>\n

Diane or Nathan had to access the illegal files again so investigators could confirm the transmission.<\/p>\n

At nine o\u2019clock, Diane tapped a spoon against her glass.<\/p>\n
