People nearby turned toward us.<\/p>\n

Embarrassed, I pulled Mia close.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry,\u201d I told Harold. \u201cShe misses Mike. Sometimes she gets confused.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s fine,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n

But he didn\u2019t look fine.<\/p>\n

He walked away almost immediately.<\/p>\n

I tried telling myself it was only grief.<\/p>\n

Mia had seen something that reminded her of Mike.<\/p>\n

That was all.<\/p>\n

Except Harold had reacted as though she had uncovered something he hoped no one would notice.<\/p>\n

Later, I found him talking to his business partner, Benjamin.<\/p>\n
