It was not the exciting new beginning people liked to describe.<\/p>\n

I had planned only to pretend, but the quiet steadiness of his shoulder reminded me how long I had lived expecting criticism. For a few peaceful minutes, no one demanded an explanation from me.<\/p>\n

When the plane landed, Marcus unfolded my stroller and carried down one of my suitcases.<\/p>\n
