\u201cYou sat beside her while she prepared fraudulent papers involving my property.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it was just a proposal.\u201d<\/p>\n

I opened another part of the folder and removed the bank records.<\/p>\n

Three customers had already transferred deposits totalling \u00a318,500. One couple had reserved the garden for a wedding, while two families had booked graduation weekends.<\/p>\n

Judith claimed the money would pay for landscaping and pool repairs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no pool,\u201d I said. \u201cAnd Noah planted that garden with my father.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooke grabbed her handbag.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody has stayed here yet. We can simply cancel everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

He looked at Noah and Lily.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey will never be Callahans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThen the Callahan name means less than I believed.\u201d<\/p>\n

After they left, Mark approached me.<\/p>\n

His shoulders dropped.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am ending the belief that your intentions matter more than your actions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mark packed a small suitcase and returned to Charlotte.<\/p>\n

That evening, I ate pizza on the porch with Noah and Lily.<\/p>\n
