PART 1<\/strong><\/h1>\n

I was at Denver International Airport to say goodbye to my best friend before her flight to a conference. I had coffee in one hand and my phone in the other, already planning dinner, when I suddenly saw Julian.<\/p>\n

At first, I thought I must have been mistaken.<\/p>\n

He was standing near the departure gates with a tall brunette in a cream coat. Her hands rested naturally against his chest, and when she leaned closer, Julian kissed her with the ease of someone who had done it many times before.<\/p>\n

My stomach dropped.<\/p>\n

I quickly moved behind a nearby pillar, close enough to hear them without being noticed. Around me, luggage wheels rattled across the floor and boarding announcements echoed through the terminal.<\/p>\n

Then Julian spoke.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything is ready,\u201d he said quietly. \u201cThat fool is about to lose everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

The woman laughed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd she has no idea.\u201d<\/p>\n

A cold wave passed through me.<\/p>\n

They were talking about me.<\/p>\n

And they were not simply planning an affair or a divorce. Julian\u2019s words sounded calculated\u2014like he intended to take my money, my property, and anything else he could reach.<\/p>\n

Then I noticed the leather briefcase under his arm.<\/p>\n

He only carried it to important business meetings. It was also the same briefcase he had brought home weeks earlier when he asked me to sign several documents for his new company.<\/p>\n

He had smiled warmly that night and told me they were routine forms.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou trust me, don\u2019t you?\u201d he had said.<\/p>\n

Now I understood that trust had been part of his trap.<\/p>\n

Instead of confronting him, I lifted my phone and began recording. My hands trembled, but I captured every word.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the transfer is finished,\u201d Julian said, \u201cshe\u2019ll have nothing. No accounts, no access. Then I\u2019ll file for divorce immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat about the house?\u201d the woman asked.<\/p>\n

Julian smiled.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s already taken care of.\u201d<\/p>\n

The house had belonged to me before our marriage. My father had helped restore it before he passed away, and I had later refinanced it to support Julian\u2019s business ambitions.<\/p>\n

It was more than property.<\/p>\n

It was my father\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n

For a moment, anger nearly overwhelmed me. But I forced myself to remain still.<\/p>\n

Julian believed I was sitting at home, completely unaware of what he was doing.<\/p>\n

He did not know that I had recorded his confession.<\/p>\n

More importantly, he did not know that the papers he had convinced me to sign contained a protection he had never bothered to read.<\/p>\n

As Julian and the woman turned toward the parking garage, she wrapped an arm around him.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s destroy her life,\u201d she whispered.<\/p>\n

They walked directly past my hiding place.<\/p>\n

I waited until they disappeared through the doors.<\/p>\n

Then I smiled.<\/p>\n

Julian believed he had built the perfect trap.<\/p>\n

He had no idea that I had already built one for him.<\/p>\n
