Margaret\u2019s expression hardened. \u201cWe are working on that now.\u201d<\/p>\n

A detective from the hospital police unit arrived while the doctors were still stabilizing Lily.<\/p>\n

I gave him Daniel\u2019s address and Vanessa\u2019s apartment number, which I had discovered months earlier on a restaurant receipt hidden inside Daniel\u2019s jacket.<\/p>\n

Less than an hour later, officers searched Vanessa\u2019s apartment.<\/p>\n
