I could only nod.<\/p>\n

Terry brought lemonade for Dolly and Sophie, who quickly returned to the water. Then he noticed Grace fussing again.<\/p>\n

\u201cMay I hold her while you rest?\u201d<\/p>\n

My arms ached, so I handed her over. Terry offered Grace the bottle she had refused earlier. This time, she drank quietly and soon fell asleep against his chest.<\/p>\n

Patricia sat beside me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI raised my niece after my sister died,\u201d she said. \u201cThat newspaper clipping helped me through the hardest years. It reminded me that women like us were not alone.\u201d<\/p>\n
