He pressed his forehead to the glass as the plane began moving toward the runway.<\/p>\n

Eight months earlier, Mike had been playing soccer in our backyard when he suddenly stopped chasing the ball.<\/p>\n

He stood near the fence with one hand pressed against his side.<\/p>\n

He shook his head.<\/p>\n

That night, he developed a fever.<\/p>\n

I became skilled at sleeping upright and lying to relatives over the phone.<\/p>\n
