Devereux Capital held investments in hospitals, ports, and energy companies, along with most of the debt supporting Sterling Hospitality. Its founder, Richard Devereux, had disappeared from public life after a stroke.<\/p>\n

Almost no one knew he was my father.<\/p>\n

Professionally, I used my mother\u2019s surname and built the company\u2019s compliance division away from cameras. The apartment and repair shop were never disguises. After recovering, my father chose quiet, honest work over boardrooms.<\/p>\n

Olivia had mistaken humility for weakness.<\/p>\n

Julian stopped beside me.<\/p>\n
