Five days later, Ryan returned from the beach.<\/p>\n

My mother stayed with the triplets at the old house while Shaun remained nearby.<\/p>\n

I waited alone in the kitchen Ryan and I had once shared. My wedding ring sat beside a folder containing the first legal documents.<\/p>\n

Ryan entered while recording himself on his phone.<\/p>\n

Ryan looked around the nearly empty house and finally noticed the folder.<\/p>\n

He opened it.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou filed for divorce?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI started the process.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShaun convinced you! He has always hated me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShaun carried furniture. My mother watched the babies.\u201d<\/p>\n

I looked directly at him.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I made the decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou moved my children while I was gone?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI moved them somewhere I would not be raising them alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ryan stared at me.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted those babies for years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several weeks later, he came to the old house for his first full visit.<\/p>\n
