Inside the grocery bag Vanessa had left were two juice boxes, crackers, pajamas, and Noah\u2019s inhaler. No toothbrushes. No clean clothes. No note. No plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe told me she had work training,\u201d Mark said.<\/p>\n

I showed him the party photos.<\/p>\n

His jaw tightened. Vanessa had blocked him from seeing them.<\/p>\n

We put the kids in the kitchen with pizza and a movie. Then Mark called his attorney.<\/p>\n

Soon after, we called the police non-emergency line\u2014not to have Vanessa arrested, but to create a record.<\/p>\n

An officer came that night. He took my statement, reviewed the screenshots, checked the custody order, and wrote everything down.<\/p>\n

By Sunday morning, she had called twenty-three times.<\/p>\n
