That night, while my parents slept in a warm bed for the first time in days, I sat beside the window and opened my laptop. I checked the county property records. The house was still in my name. No transfer. No sale. No authorized lease.<\/p>\n

Then I searched my email archives.<\/p>\n

Buried inside a folder Daniel had once created for \u201chousehold documents,\u201d I found scanned forms with my digital signature pasted onto them. One document claimed I had given Daniel temporary management authority over the property. Another claimed my parents had agreed to leave voluntarily.<\/p>\n

My signature was forged.<\/p>\n

The next morning, I called an attorney named Rachel Stein, recommended by a colleague at the hospital where I worked as a nurse practitioner. I sent her everything: the deed, the forged papers, Daniel\u2019s texts, and photos of my parents on cardboard.<\/p>\n

Rachel called back twenty minutes later.<\/p>\n
