Brenda’s frantic voice came from the background, pleading for help: “Claire, please! Mason has an exam tomorrow! Just pay the fourteen thousand dollars, and I promise I will never interfere in your marriage again!”

I leaned back in my executive chair and looked across the city skyline with complete emotional clarity.

“Two days ago, you called me a selfish leech and demanded a divorce to prove you didn’t need me, Tyler,” I answered with icy finality. “You let your sister destroy our vows, and now you can let her pay your bills. You wanted independence—now go ahead and enjoy it.”

I ended the call and permanently blocked both numbers.

Later that afternoon, Raymond Vance served Tyler with an emergency court-ordered eviction notice, giving him seventy-two hours to leave my premarital estate before county sheriffs removed his belongings to the curb.
