The expected ambush happened exactly a week after the wedding. Allison arrived at my front door accompanied by a sharply dressed notary named Peter Lang. They brought a thick stack of legal documents designed to sell my home for eight hundred fifty thousand dollars and commit me to an assisted living facility.
