Adrian shouted,

The screen switched to transaction records linking Adrian’s companies to bribed officials, fake charities, and offshore accounts.

Then came the original trust amendment naming Mara as controlling beneficiary and prohibiting Adrian from managing the trust after turning thirty unless Mara certified him fit.

She never had.

Adrian struggled wildly.

Their attorneys called me vindictive.

After his banker and three former employees testified, Adrian pleaded guilty. He received fourteen years in federal prison, plus additional time for the violence. Celeste received nine years.

Mara regained control of the trust, sold the corrupt divisions, repaid investors, and established a legal fund for survivors trapped by powerful abusers.

She asked me to lead it.

One year later, I stood inside a bright office overlooking Boston Harbor.

On the wall hung a wedding photograph—not of Adrian, but of Mara walking into the church.
