Part 2

The family stared at the sandwiches in complete silence until Juliette demanded to know where the actual barbecue was hiding. I cheerfully explained that I assumed they would finally want to purchase the meat themselves from a local butcher. The young children including Tyler and Madison began complaining about the lack of hot dogs while Juliette accused me of being incredibly selfish. Bryan stepped forward and calmly supported my decision which infuriated his mother even more. The group packed up their cars and drove away less than an hour later with Juliette claiming I had ruined their holiday weekend.

The following morning I discovered Juliette had posted a dramatic public rant online calling me a heartless woman who starved innocent children. Instead of arguing I simply gathered dozens of photographs from our past gatherings showing her family happily eating expensive barbecue. I posted those pictures online alongside clear photographs of my massive grocery receipts from every single holiday over the past four years. People online quickly understood the truth and Juliette silently deleted her angry post within two days. For the first time in many years I finally enjoyed a peaceful holiday weekend in my own home.
